Accessibility Statement
Last updated: March 2026 | Version 1.0
1. About This Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the Ink & Leaf website (inkandleaf.co.uk). Ink & Leaf is a personal blog about vintage and second-hand books, operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. We are committed to making our content accessible and are working towards meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
This statement has been prepared in accordance with the UK Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and reflects best practice for non-public sector websites. Although Ink & Leaf is a personal blog and may not be legally required to publish an accessibility statement, we believe doing so demonstrates our commitment to inclusive design and is good practice.
2. Compliance Status
Ink & Leaf has not yet been formally assessed against WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are therefore unable to claim full or partial conformance at this time. We are actively working to understand and address accessibility requirements as the site is developed.
What this means: We are being transparent that a formal audit has not yet taken place. This is honest and appropriate for a site in active development. We will update this statement as assessments are completed.
Our target is to achieve conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all pages and content. WCAG 2.1 Level AA covers a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
3. What We Are Doing to Improve Accessibility
We are taking the following steps to improve the accessibility of Ink & Leaf:
3.1 Platform
Ink & Leaf is built on the Wix website platform. Wix has made a public commitment to accessibility and works towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across its platform. We make use of Wix's built-in accessibility features wherever possible, including semantic HTML structure, keyboard navigability, and responsive design.
3.2 Content
As we develop the blog, we are working towards the following content standards:
-
Providing descriptive alternative text (alt text) for all images
-
Using clear, plain language and logical heading structures
-
Ensuring sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds, particularly given our warm cream, gold, and burgundy brand palette
-
Not relying solely on colour to convey meaning
-
Ensuring links have descriptive, meaningful text (avoiding "click here" or "read more" in isolation)
-
Avoiding flashing or rapidly changing content
-
Ensuring all content is accessible via keyboard navigation
-
Providing transcripts or captions for any audio or video content we publish in future
3.3 Planned Assessment
We intend to undertake a formal accessibility review of the website in due course, using a combination of automated testing tools (such as Axe or WAVE) and manual testing. We will update this statement with the findings and any resulting remediation plan.
4. Known Accessibility Issues
As the site has not yet been formally assessed, we cannot provide a complete list of non-compliances. However, we are aware of the following potential areas of concern that we are monitoring:
-
Colour contrast: some elements of our brand palette (particularly gold on cream) may not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for standard text under WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.3. We are reviewing our use of colour carefully.
-
Third-party content: our website is hosted on Wix, and some platform-level elements (such as cookie banners or embedded widgets) may not be fully within our control. We will raise any accessibility concerns with Wix directly.
-
Images: as the blog grows, we are committed to ensuring all newly added images include appropriate alt text. Retrospective updates will be applied where needed.
We will update this section as we complete our formal assessment and identify any additional issues.
5. Technical Information
Ink & Leaf is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (to the extent applicable) and in the spirit of the Equality Act 2010.
5.1 Technologies
This website relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.1:
-
HTML
-
CSS
-
JavaScript (as rendered by the Wix platform)
5.2 Testing Approach
