Affiliate & Sponsorship Disclosure

Last updated: March 2026  |  Version 1.0

Ink & Leaf does not currently use affiliate links or accept paid sponsorships, gifted items, or any other form of commercial arrangement. All content is entirely independent.

This page explains our approach to commercial relationships - both now and in future - so that you always know exactly where you stand when reading Ink & Leaf.

1. Our Commitment to Transparency

Ink & Leaf was founded on a genuine, lifelong love of vintage and second-hand books. The trust of our readers matters enormously to us, and we believe that trust depends on complete transparency about any commercial relationships that could influence our content.

This disclosure page exists to make our position absolutely clear — now and in future. We will update it promptly if our arrangements change, and any individual post containing commercial content will carry its own clear disclosure label.

We follow the guidance of the following regulatory bodies on advertising and endorsement transparency:

  • UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the CAP Code.

  • UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) — Guidance on endorsements and testimonials.

  • US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.

  • EU Directive 2005/29/EC on Unfair Commercial Practices (for EEA readers).

2. Our Current Position

2.1 Affiliate Links

Ink & Leaf does not currently participate in any affiliate marketing programme. This means that none of the links on our Website — including links to booksellers, auction houses, publishers, or any other third parties — are affiliate links, and we do not earn any commission or financial benefit from clicks or purchases made through them.

2.2 Sponsored Content

We do not currently accept payment or any other form of compensation in exchange for publishing content, reviews, or mentions on Ink & Leaf. No post on this Website has been sponsored, commissioned, or paid for by any third party.

2.3 Gifted Items

We have not received any books, products, or items free of charge from publishers, booksellers, dealers, or any other party in exchange for coverage or review on Ink & Leaf. Any books featured on this blog have been purchased personally or are part of our own collection.

2.4 Brand Partnerships

We do not currently have any brand partnerships, ambassador arrangements, or commercial relationships with any company, organisation, or individual that could influence our content.

3. Future Commercial Arrangements

We may in future consider introducing affiliate links or accepting certain types of commercial arrangement if they align with our values and the interests of our readers. This section sets out how we would handle each type of arrangement, should that occur.

3.1 Affiliate Links

If we introduce affiliate links in future, the following will apply:

  • Every post containing affiliate links will carry a clear disclosure statement at the top of the post, before the first link appears.

  • The disclosure will use plain, unambiguous language such as: "This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.".

  • Affiliate links will be clearly distinguishable from standard links wherever technically possible.

  • The presence of an affiliate relationship will never influence which books or products we recommend  - we will only link to items we genuinely recommend.

  • This disclosure page will be updated to name the affiliate programmes we participate in.

Common affiliate programmes: In the book world, common affiliate programmes include Amazon Associates, Bookshop.org, and AbeBooks. If we join any of these, we will list them here.

3.2 Sponsored Posts

If we accept sponsored content in future, the following will apply:

  • Every sponsored post will be labelled clearly and prominently at the top with wording such as: "Sponsored Post" or "This post was created in partnership with [Brand Name]".

  • We will only accept sponsorships from brands and organisations whose products or services are genuinely relevant to vintage books, reading, or the antiquarian book trade.

  • Sponsored content will always reflect our honest opinions - we will not publish positive coverage of products or services we do not genuinely believe in

  • The editorial direction of sponsored posts will remain ours; sponsors will not have the right to dictate, approve, or veto content.

3.3 Gifted Items

If we receive gifted books or products for review in future, the following will apply:

  • Any post featuring a gifted item will carry a clear disclosure such as: "This book was kindly provided by [Publisher/Seller] for review."

  • Receipt of a gifted item does not guarantee coverage, and it does not guarantee positive coverage - our reviews will always be honest.

  • We will return or decline any gifted item that we feel would compromise our editorial independence.

3.4 Brand Partnerships and Ambassadorships

If we enter into any ongoing brand partnership or ambassador arrangement in future:

  • The arrangement will be disclosed on this page and in every piece of content produced in connection with it.

  • Paid partnerships will be labelled with wording such as: "Paid Partnership with [Brand Name]" or "Ad" as required by ASA and FTC guidelines.

4. How to Identify Commercial Disclosures on Ink & Leaf

When any commercial content is present on Ink & Leaf, you will see one of the following labels clearly displayed at the top of the relevant post or page:

  • "Contains affiliate links" - the post includes links through which we may earn a commission.

  • "Sponsored" or "Sponsored Post" - the post has been produced in partnership with a paying brand.

  • "Gifted" or "PR Sample" -  the item featured was provided free of charge for review.

  • "Ad" or "Paid Partnership" -  the content is advertising or forms part of a paid commercial arrangement.

These labels will always appear before the main content of the post, so you are informed before you read. We will never attempt to obscure or minimise commercial disclosures.

5. Editorial Independence

Whatever commercial arrangements may exist in future, our editorial independence is non-negotiable. The views, opinions, and recommendations expressed on Ink & Leaf are always our own, based on our genuine experience and knowledge of the rare and vintage books world.

A commercial relationship — whether an affiliate link, a gifted book, or a sponsorship -  will never cause us to recommend something we do not believe in, suppress a negative opinion, or alter a review to please a brand or partner.

If you ever feel that a piece of content on Ink & Leaf does not reflect this standard, please do not hesitate to contact us.

6. Questions and Contact

If you have any questions about this disclosure, our commercial arrangements (current or future), or if you would like to discuss a potential partnership or collaboration with Ink & Leaf, please contact us via the contact form on our Website at inkandleaf.co.uk.

We are always happy to be transparent about how this blog operates.
